25 people killed, hundreds injured by an erupting volcano in Guatemala

  • A volcano erupted southwest of Guatemala City on Sunday, killing at least 25 people.
  • Hundreds were injured in the eruption, which spewed gas four miles into the sky.
  • Volcan del Fuego has already erupted once this year, and is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America.


Authorities in Guatemala say 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured by the eruption of a volcano southwest of the capital.

National disaster reduction squad CONRED said the number of dead had risen to 25, including a CONRED employee, following the eruption of  Volcan del Fuego.
