College Student Andrew Kozlovski Turned Dorm Room Startup into a Leading Social Media Brand

Andrew Kozlovski is a 22-year-old senior at USC. He has gotten recent national press in Forbes, Business Insider, and Huffington Post for his achievements as a college entrepreneur. The product he started his freshman year out of his dorm room was a solution to a college-wide problem of Adderall abuse. He says that once he was inside of the college environment, he saw how terrible and far-reaching this epidemic was, and that is when he started looking for some sort of natural solution, but no major companies were addressing it. This was the inception point of his business; he teamed up with an FDA-approved laboratory to formulate a product that targets the brain’s most vital functions, and then turned his attention to social media.

He says he knew this product was needed by the college demographic the most, and at that time every single college student spent hours every single day on these social platforms, with Instagram being the leader. He says he knew that if he could pop up into their feeds on the app they would become educated on this alternative that they have yet to be exposed to. So Andrew went on the platform and amassed over 100k on his product page @brainzpower and another 145k on his personal account @andrewthekoz. He says his success started from developing a product that he witnessed firsthand was missing from the market and then reverse engineering the entire process. He developed the label to be able to stand out on Instagram.

He asserts that to succeed on Instagram, one has to be able to catch someone’s eye. If one successfully does that, one might be lucky enough to have them scroll down to read the caption, where it is the business leader’s job to educate them on their product and how it will be beneficial to them. His product has been made famous across Instagram for his famous gold label, and has now grown to be the number-one biohacking and nootropic brand on Instagram. His product works by combining 9 ingredients that researchers and scientists found to support the cognitive functions, and he was the first to this wave of nootropics flooding the market. He shares that as an all-American athlete in high school he took supplements for everything, but there was never anything for the brain. After all, it’s the most important organ in the body, especially for students, so this was a product he really needed and is so happy see many other people enjoying it as well.

Andrew says his biggest hurdle in growing the business was actually the inception of the company. He says in the beginning everyone laughed at the idea, saying he was an idealist, laughing about the idea of selling products through a social media app. Now, he has been in business for over 3.5 years and is generating revenues exceeding 20-30K per month as a college student. Andrew didn’t stop there after succeeding as a college entrepreneur and fighting through the negativity thrown at him in the beginning. He started voicing his experience on his YouTube channel and personal Instagram where he goes into depth on each hurdle he faced as a young entrepreneur, and even provides his way of approaching each task from balancing school and entrepreneurship, to how to grow on social media.

Although he has grown a major business, he is still a full-time student at USC studying International Business. He emphasizes how important it was for him to get an education at a top-5 entrepreneurship school in the US and that the network of professors, students and alumni can’t be matched. He says he placed far more emphasis on his business duties outside of school, but he values the university system in its potential for long-term success.

Andrew says some people use college as a four-year vacation, but he chose to use it as a launching pad. While others were partying, Andrew was working. While others were playing videos games, Andrew was working and all of this hard work, sacrifice, and dedication is starting to show. Andrew says if he could give anyone advice on entrepreneurship it would be to start as soon as possible. He says starting a business in college at 19 gave him an extra dimension to the education that he knew no one else was receiving. There is no pressure to succeed at an early age as well, so he says you have a cushion to really experiment without the pressure of others and if you’re lucky enough to win, everyone will be shocked. In conclusion, it’s all upside; one either wins or gains experience, which is just as valuable.
