  • The Mayor of Phoenix urged President Donald Trump and attendees at his Tuesday campaign rally to wear face masks in accordance with her new ordinance requiring the facial coverings in public places.
  • "Everyone attending tomorrow's event, particularly any elected official, should set an example to residents by wearing a mask," Mayor Kate Gallego said. "This includes the President."
  • Gallego on Sunday said she wasn't planning to enforce the $250 fine for not wearing a mask at the rally, but she argued the rally is unsafe as the state's coronavirus infections and hospitalizations surge.
  • Leaders of the megachurch hosting the rally falsely claimed that an air filtration they recently installed "kills 99.9% of COVID within 10 minutes" and will keep all of the rally attendees safe from the virus.
