Popeyes is rolling out its first-ever loyalty program - and you can get a free apple pie, side, or drink just for registering.

Customers in mainland US states can get points each time they order from the fried-chicken chain, and can spend these points on food. Customers also get access to special offers, too.

To get the free items, you need to download the Popeyes app or visit its website and create an account with your name and email. After you register, you'll be offered a free apple pie, regular side, or small drink.

You get 10 points for every dollar you spend online or via the app. Details about what you can buy with those points are shown on its Rewards Menu. If you spent $20, for example, you'd earn 200 points, which is enough for a free portion of fries or mashed potatoes - or even another apple pie, a spokesperson for Popeyes told Insider.

Popeyes Rewards members also get special offers like a happy hour with $1 regular-size sides, and bonus points on combos and family meals.

Popeyes is also launching a limited-edition family meal to celebrate the loyalty program's launch, available until July 1. The "Welcome To The Popeyes Fam" meal is only available to loyalty members, and includes eight pieces of chicken, one large side, and four biscuits. You get 500 bonus points for ordering it, too.

A spokesperson said the cost of this meal would vary depending on the restaurant location.
