- Ghosn accomplices go down. American father and son pair Michael and Peter Taylor pleaded guilty to helping ex-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn flee Japan in a box. According to prosecutors, Ghosn was the brains behind the plan to flee Japan in a large box meant for a musical instrument. He's been charged with defrauding Nissan out of millions of dollars.
- Former child star throws Dave Grohl-related tantrum. Foo Fighters held a show for vaccinated fans only. Anti-vaxxers including former child star Ricky Schroeder protested outside. "Dave Grohl is an ignorant punk who needs slapped for supporting Discrimination..." Schroeder wrote in a Facebook post on June 13.
- China digging up Taiwan's turf in intimidation tactic. China's latest tactic to exert control over Taiwan? Using hundreds of dredgers to carve sand from its coast. A Taiwanese politician called the mass use of sand dredgers a "gray zone" tactic meant to harass and intimidate.
- How rich people stay so rich. Three secrets that America's richest family dynasties use to hang onto their money, from a report on their breakaway wealth during the pandemic. A report from the Institute for Policy Studies finds the wealthy remain that way through strategic charitable giving and family offices and trusts.
- Brave new world? An AI emotion-recognition system can assess how 'happy' China's workers are in the office. The system, developed by Shenzhen-based Taigusys, claims to assess emotions accurately and analyze the "amount of happiness" on a person's face.
