  • Pabst Blue Ribbon tweeted "Not drinking this January? Try eating ass!"
  • The tweet was then deleted, and the company apologized.
  • A marketing executive said the tweets "were written in poor judgment by one of our associates."

Pabst Blue Ribbon apologized for a tweet on Monday that said: "Not drinking this January? Try eating ass!"

The now-deleted post was sent from the brewing company's verified account. Tweets of a similar tone, including a reply that told a user to "ask your mom," were also deleted.

Nick Reely, vice president of marketing at the Pabst Brewing Company, said in a statement to Adweek that one person was responsible and the company was handling the matter "internally."

"We apologize about the language and content of our recent tweets. The tweets in question were written in poor judgment by one of our associates.

"In no way does the content of these tweets reflect the values of Pabst and our associates. We're handling the matter internally and have removed the tweets from our social platforms."

The Pabst Blue Ribbon has only posted one tweet since: "Beer."
