Running a Multi-Million Dollar Company with Less Than 4 Employees

Home businesses tend to only have one or two employees, with five being an unusually high number. With human resources so lean, it may seem outlandish to think such an enterprise could become a multi-million dollar company with a fewer number of employees in the mix, but this isn’t exactly the case. The truth is it’s possible to run a multi-million dollar company with less than four employees on the payroll.

Apart from possessing a popular product with a stable market, here are the chief components of a home business which can generate millions annually with only a few employees:

Streamlined selection

Whether it’s products or services or a combination of the two, more options usually mean more manpower to make customers happy. Consider the difference between a food truck – which usually only has a dozen or so items on the menu and can operate with one or two workers – and a traditional restaurant which will have twice to three times as many menu options and will require as many or more workers.  If you want your home business to turn into a multi-million dollar income generator without hiring more workers, keep options limited while continuing to keep customers happy.

Customer involvement

Many companies generating millions of dollars in sales annually while only managing a miniscule workforce have done so by successfully harnessing the symbiotic benefits of giving customers some control over the product or service. One example is the Greek U Sorority & Fraternity Apparel Company which earns millions every year. Customers make most of the decisions themselves when it comes to how design characteristics turn out. This not only attracts people who prefer to have as much control as possible over what they buy; it essentially makes the customer do a lot of the work themselves. The result is the potential for a company to operate on a large scale without a particularly large workforce.

Hard work

Seasoned home business owners are well aware of the importance of hard work. If the company is generating millions of dollars in transactions every year but only has a few people on the payroll, you best believe there will be hard work involved. The accounting alone will require a full-time effort. Those who are just starting out on their path towards business success with a skeleton crew must be prepared to roll up their sleeves, otherwise, the momentum needed to get to that point will be difficult to maintain, let alone create.

Optimized systems

Working hard is wasted effort if you aren’t working smart. Optimizing systems so that a home business with only a few employees can get the most done with the least amount of effort and expenditure is a critical step if earning annual revenue in the millions is the objective. These days, this is principally a matter of taking advantage of software which automates parts of the business process. It may also involve outsourcing various stages of the process. This frees up time for the one or two workers to focus on the aspects of the company which cannot be performed by artificial intelligence – at least not yet.

It might sound too-good-to-be-true, but millions of dollars of revenue can be made by a home business without having to hire a small army of staff to get the work done. With that said, we didn’t say it would be easy. If you have what it takes to make millions with a minimal workforce, it’s unlikely the prospect of a challenge will act as a deterrence. In fact, it’s probably quite the contrary.
