  • Tinder, Bumble, and a number of popular dating services are targets of a House investigation for allegedly allowing minors and sex offenders on their platforms
  • The investigation follows a ProPublica report that found many popular free dating apps permitted registered sex offenders to use them, while the paid versions of these same apps screened them out.
  • "Protection from sexual predators should not be a luxury confined to paying customers," Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, the Illinois Democrat who heads the subcommittee leading the investigation said.
  • The investigation also seeks to address concerns surrounding the data that these services require in order to make matches.
