  • "Wonka" star Hugh Grant joked that he doesn't enjoy making movies but does it to feed his family.
  • "I have lots of children and need money," said Grant who plays an Oompa Loompa in "Wonka."
  • Grant says he didn't enjoy starring in "Wonka" either, calling motion-capture work "very uncomfortable."

Hugh Grant may have been acting in movies since the 80s, but the English actor says he kinda hates making them.

The English actor was at a recent press conference for the new "Wonka" movie where he explained why he was playing an Oompa Loompa.

"I slightly hate making films but I have lots of children and need money," Grant joked, per a story published by The Metro on November 29.

Grant shares two children with his ex-girlfriend, Tinglan Hong, and three children with his wife, Anna Eberstein.

Grant added that he didn't enjoy the motion-capture work that came with playing an Oompa Loompa.

"It was like a crown of thorns, very uncomfortable," Grant said of his experience at the same press conference.

This isn't the first time Grant has expressed his disinterest in his own films.

Back in 2014, Grant told the Mirror that he "pretty much hated any other film I've ever been in" besides the romantic comedy "The Rewrite."

Representatives for Grant did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
